These are four of the shots from Creator Hair’s collection, for the British Hair Awards this year. They are one of the most successful salons in the North of England. Mark Pearson brought the hair to life, and having seen some of the four girls shot previously in the consumer and trade press – it was great to see Mark implement his own direction and creativity (pun intended).

Mark has shot with some of the best photographers in the world – and has produced some of his collections in L.A. His vision is great to work along side, and places me in a special arena to create – and after shooting with each other for over six years now – we have a great understanding of how we both work.

On our photographic sessions, Mark Pearson (owner of Creator Hair), said:

“Having worked with Jack for many years we have developed a relationship that is both creative and professional. I have always found him easy to share ideas and creative concepts with, and for him to interpret them in the ways that I have imagined them. This years BHA entry: ‘The Fringe’, has got a different fringe for every shot. For ‘The Fringe’, we wanted to explore the feeling of an editorial shoot with the focus still being on the hair.”

The orbs on the background were challenging to work with, as it was light directed back at the camera. But this has given a surreal edge to the dark feel of the shoot – and when viewed full size, the shoot really comes into its own.

Leanne Shaw did a stunning job on makeup, and it was a pleasure to work with one of the industry’s best clothing stylists, Rachel Bakewell.
